My name is Diamond Sears. I am from Arkansas and, according to one of my students, I “sound like a cowgirl”, despite my effort to cover the accent. I am married to Devon Sears, and am a special education teacher here in Seattle.
I grew up in a God loving family, and had great support from my church which helped build a foundation for my walk with Jesus. I sought him and wanted to do right by him, but I don’t think I learned to love and depend on him. I was very prideful and focused on my performance and appearance of being a faithful Christian and meeting unobtainable expectations I placed on myself. Going to college changed the way I thought about, and talked to God. I learned to love him and be in relationship with him.
Although pride, self-centeredness, and insecurity are still things I battle daily, I am learning to lean into grace, and the freedom of being in Christ, rather than beating myself up for not being “good-enough.”
Some of my favorite things are…
My husband and puppy Barney
The Sojourn team (for real, I adore these people)
Riding my bike (That’s new! Thank you, Seattle!)
Sweet tea (If you know anywhere in Seattle with good sweet tea, let me know!!!)
I hope to meet you soon!
